John O'Connell

John is retired from the City of New York Fire Department after 26 years of service.   For the last 18 years he was assigned to the departments collapse Rescue Company No.3.  In his long career he worked in active units in Brooklyn as well as the Bronx.  John was also a member of the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue system, he responded to and worked at Oklahoma City as well as both World Trade Center incidents.  Before joining the fire department John was a union carpenter in New York City, he started working in 1972 as an apprentice.  Now in his retirement he is pursuing his 45 year passion, his woodworking career.

Located in Walden NY John’s 1150 square foot shop has some of the latest tools and equipment available, all making for high quality workmanship.   

We custom make to your order !!    

Small furniture, dog & cat beds, heirloom cigar humidors, cutting boards: flat or end grained and engraved, challenge coin holders, flag holders, plant stands, wine racks, bottle openers, and all types of plaques

All our lumber is NY State grown and locally harvested !! 

We do not use foreign imported materials.  All our hardware as well is American made.
